The business
Sad Bird Coffee is a veteran-founded specialty coffee brand built around balance. Their low-caffeine blends are crafted for focus, flavor, and ritual without the crash. The brand's origin traces back to a sketch the founder made during his time in the military, a tired-looking bird that became a symbol of resilience among his team. That sketch became the Sad Bird logo and the foundation of a brand philosophy built on calm, sustainable energy.
The authenticity was already there. The opportunity was to make it generate revenue at the same level it was generating loyalty.
The opportunity
Sad Bird had a story that customers responded to and a product with a clear, differentiated value proposition. The opportunity was to tighten the systems around both. The homepage had room to communicate the low-caffeine benefit more clearly and move visitors toward purchase more efficiently. The brand's origin story wasn't yet doing the conversion work it was capable of doing. Reviews were being collected but not deployed effectively as a sales tool. And there were no automated email flows in place to turn interested visitors into paying customers. Each of those gaps represented a lever that hadn't been pulled yet.
Our approach
We built revenue infrastructure across three areas: brand storytelling, website clarity, and automated email and review systems. Every decision was made with one goal in mind, turning the attention Sad Bird was already earning into consistent, compounding revenue.
Homepage refresh
We rewrote the homepage to lead with what makes Sad Bird worth buying. The new layout clearly communicates the low-caffeine benefit, guides visitors through the product range, and creates a direct path to purchase. Less friction, more conversions.
About page
We transformed the Our Mission page into a full About Us story built to convert as much as it inspires. The founder's military background, the original sketch, and the philosophy behind the brand are now told in a way that keeps visitors engaged and builds the kind of trust that leads to a first purchase and a second one.
Yotpo review system
We rebuilt the review experience into a three-part branded sequence covering a review request, a follow-up reminder, and a thank you email with a free shipping incentive. More reviews, better reviews, and reviews that now actively support conversion on product pages rather than sitting in the background.
Shopify email infrastructure
We built a full retention and conversion system inside Shopify. A four-part automated welcome sequence delivers a welcome offer, the founder story, product education, and a time-sensitive purchase reminder. A re-engagement campaign was launched to bring existing subscribers back to the site and drive immediate sales. The email capture pop-up was optimized with stronger messaging and incentives to grow the subscriber base faster.
Together these systems nurture new subscribers into first-time buyers, educate customers on the full product range to increase average order value, and drive repeat purchases through consistent, on-brand communication.
Final takeaway
Sad Bird Coffee had a story worth telling and a product worth buying. The revenue infrastructure we built made sure that story was working as hard as the brand behind it.
If your business has built real brand equity and you are ready to put the systems in place to monetize it fully, that is exactly what we do. And we guarantee the results.
